An Introduction

With blessings of Bhagawan Baba, the association of the old students of Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Educational Institutions, Muddenahalli with name 'Children of Sathya Sai" was formally inaugurated on 02-10-2001 by Respected Sri B.N. Narasimha Murthy who illumined the minds and hearts of nearly 700 old students who had gathered on that day with his enlightening and inspiring words of advice.

The guiding principle of this association is the upliftment of the society along with one's own spiritual progress - 'Atma Kalyana and Loka Kalyana' which was the cherished ideal of Rev. Madiyala Narayan Bhat (Rev. Anna) of hallowed memory. Sri B. Narayana Rao, the Secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Trust, Muddenahalli is the President of "Children of Sathya Sai'.

It was decided unanimously by the alumni that the members of the 'Children of Sathya Sai' have to help to the extent possible, poor and the downtrodden with regard to their education and health. The association has to provide succour to the helpless and the needy. They also decided that they would uphold preserve the noble values of the glorious Indian Culture as expounded by Bhagawan Baba by precept and practice.


Objectives of Children of Sathya Sai Society

  1. To use the Society as an instrument and vehicle to follow, practice, implement and realise the ideals, philosophy and teachings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, in letter and spirit, so that everyone can make a progressive spiritual journey on the Sathya Sai path that leads to individual emancipation and world welfare.

  2. Education - Which without in any way taking away the generality of its meaning will include the following objectives namely:
    1. To maintain existing educational institutions and also to establish, maintain, run, develop and donate for the establishment, maintenance and development such institutions including establishing book banks, libraries, computer centres and hostels for students.
    2. To provide facilities for tuition classes and equip them with necessary materials for the school children residing in the villages and establish, maintain, run, develop, improve, extend grants and donations to various educational institutions like schools, colleges, polytechnics, vocational training centres, research centres etc.
    3. To institute studentships, scholarships, stipends, medals, prizes, etc, to help and encourage deserving students and to provide monetary aid to students, scholars and teachers for the purpose of and towards supporting and imparting integrated education.
    4. To organise, conduct and assist in organising and conducting of lectures, seminars, symposia and such other educational activities in the field of Indian Cultural studies, humanities, commerce, science and human values and other subjects of general interest to students and society.
    5. To do all that is necessary and incidental for the purpose of achieving the objects mentioned above.
  3. Relief for the Poor - Which without in any way taking away the generality of its meaning, will include the following objects so as to provide help and succour to people living in villages, especially the poor:
    1. To construct and provide community halls and such other facilities which are the local needs/requirements in the villages.
    2. To give food, clothing and cash grants to the poor and to grant donations for the support of the inmates of orphanages, rescue and re-habilitation centres and such other similar institutions.
    3. To provide relief in times of natural calamities like earthquakes, floods, famines, contagious diseases, etc. by organising relief camps.
    4. To do all that is necessary and incidental for the purpose of achieving the above mentioned objectives.
  4. Medical Relief:
    1. To establish, maintain, run, develop, improve, extend grant to and donate to hospitals, clinics, dispensaries, medical laboratories, research units, with special emphasis on medical research in all schools of medicines including Indian Systems of Medicine like Ayurveda and institutions offering treatment, cure, rest and other medical relief to the public, including relief to the physically handicapped, aged and the mentally retarded, with particular emphasis on people living in villages.
    2. To establish, maintain, develop, and donate to Blood Banks and Drug Banks etc.
    3. To organise, run and assist in organising and running of free medical camps for the benefit of poor people in rural areas.
    4. To do all that is necessary and incidental for the purpose of achieving the objects mentioned above.
  5. To take up service activities for the overall benefit and welfare of the institutions of Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Trust, Muddenahalli, more specifically for its students and staff members and retired staff members of the institution.


  6. To carry on all activities in complete coordination with and under the guidance of the authorities of the various institutions of Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Trust, Muddenahalli.


  7. Other Objects - Which without in any way taking away the generality of its meaning, will also include the following objects:
    1. To foster and promote the religious and cultural unity with the motto "Samastha Loka Suhkino Bhavanthu" by every possible means.
    2. To undertake, support and carry out by every means the inculcation and promotion of moral and spiritual values in society by highlighting and propagating the tenets of Sathya, Dharma, Prema, Shanti and Ahimsa as taught by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
    3. To promote ‘Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of Man’ and to achieve harmony and understanding among various religions, castes, communities and creeds by every means including the spreading of the teachings and philosophy of Avatars, saints, seers, sages through the medium of speeches, discourses, prayers, bhajans, songs, writings video shows etc.
    4. To do all that is necessary and incidental for the purpose of achieving objects mentioned above.

Rules and Regulations

  1. NAME OF THE SOCIETY: "CHILDREN OF SATHYA SAI SOCIETY"


  2. REGISTERED OFFICE:
    The registered office of this Society is at:
    'CHILDREN OF SATHYA SAI SOCIETY', Basement room of Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Junior College Building, Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli - 562 101, Chickaballapur Taluka, Chickaballapur District.


  3. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
    Rule No.1: JURISDICTION OR THE AREA OF OPERATION
    Area of operations of the Society is whole of India.

    Rule No.2: MEMBERSHIP
    No person is eligible to be a member of the Society unless:
    1. He has completed 18 years of age.
    2. He is an alumnus of any educational institutions of Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Trust, Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli
    3. His application, as per the format, for the membership of the Society, is accepted.
    4. He is not declared bankrupt nor he is legally disabled.
    5. He is not convicted in any offence involving moral turpitude.
    6. He accepts the aims and objectives of the Society.
    7. He agrees to abide by the Sri Sathya Sai principles and philosophy
    8. He agrees to abide by law, rules and regulations periodically amended by the Society.
    Rule No.3: MEMBERSHIP
    The membership of any alumnus whose written application for membership as per the format is accepted by the Governing Body of the Society continues to hold the membership for the rest of his lifetime until and unless the same is terminated as provided under these Rules and Regulations. There shall be no membership fees payable at the time of admission or annually for the purpose of getting admission or continuance of valid membership.

    Rule No.4: REMOVAL OF MEMBERS
    Any member whose acts of commission or omission result in or have effect of adversely affecting the Society’s image or its aims and objectives or its interest is liable to be removed from the membership of Society by an appropriate resolution passed to that effect by the Governing Body. Such removal is affected by issuance of notice of removal by the Secretary after obtaining approval from the Advisory Board to such effect. Such member shall cease to be on the Register of Members of the Society forthwith from the date of such notice.

    Rule No.5: DISCONTINUANCE OF MEMBERSHIP
    The membership of a person shall be treated as discontinued for any of the following reasons:
    1. On death of member from the date of death.
    2. If his resignation is accepted by the Governing Body from the date of such acceptance.
    3. If he is removed by the Governing Body, from the date of such removal.
    Rule No.6: THE GENERAL BODY
    The General Body of the Society consists of all the members of the Society and who continue to be on the Register of Members of the Society.

    Rule No.7: MANAGEMENT
    The Management of the Society shall vest in the Governing Body selected by the Advisory Board as constituted under the Memorandum and they shall act subject to these Rules and Regulations.

    Rule No.8: GOVERNING BODY
    1. The Governing Body shall consist of:
      i). President, ii) Vice President, iii) Secretary, iv) Joint Secretary v) Treasurer vi) Joint Treasurer and minimum of 11 other members nominated by the Advisory Board.
    2. The members of the Governing Body are selected from amongst the members of the Society, by the Advisory Board once in every three years. From amongst the members of Governing Body, office bearers of the Society namely President, Vice President (National), Vice President (International), Vice President (Internal), Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer and Joint Treasurer shall be selected by the Advisory Board, who shall hold the office for a period of three years from the date of nomination at the pleasure of the Advisory Board. Such office bearers are eligible for reappointment for their respective posts or any other posts of office after expiry of such period, at the sole discretion of the Advisory Board.
    3. The Governing Body is liable to implement and execute all the policies and programmes and co-ordinate various projects and programmes undertaken.
    4. The Governing Body shall maintain the following registers and accounts apart from those other records which are required to be maintained:
      1. Register of members
      2. Receipt book for various kind of collections.
      3. Cash Book
      4. Vouchers file
      5. General ledger
      6. Minutes Book
      7. Register in proper from of all works undertaken.
    Rule No.9: ADVISORY BOARD
    The Advisory Board consists of the following individuals:

    5. Sri. M Shankara Shettigar
    6. Sri. Venkatachala Babu

    11. Sri. K Ramananda
    12. Sri. Shivananda

    The function of the Advisory Board is to select the Governing Body and the various office bearers, and direct and advise the Governing Body on planning, implementation and monitoring of all programmes and activities of the Society.

    Rule No.10: THE GENERAL BODY AND ITS FUNCTIONS
    The period of notice to convene a general body meeting shall be 21 days and such notice shall notify the place and time of the meeting.

    It shall meet at least once every year and the quorum for the meeting shall be 100 members out of the total members on the rolls.

    Rule No.11: POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE OFFICE BEARERS
    1. President:
      1. The President of the Society shall act as a interface between the Advisory Board and the Governing Body.
      2. Be responsible to coordinate and implement the decisions taken by the Advisory Board and Governing Body.
      3. He shall also ensure proper maintenance of accounts and proper utilisation of the funds of the Society.
      4. All documents of the Society shall be executed by the President and the Secretary in accordance with the law.
      5. The President, the Secretary and the Treasurer shall jointly open bank accounts of the Society with any scheduled banks. Any two office bearers out of the three mentioned above, shall operate the bank accounts jointly.
      6. To discharge all the duties as assigned and directed by the Advisory Board.
    2. Vice President:
      1. To assist the President in discharge of his duties.
      2. In the absence of President, to discharge the duties of President with the prior permission of the Advisory Board.
    3. Secretary: The Secretary is liable to maintain the Register of Members of the Society, the record of the procedures of the Society and the General Body and shall perform the duties hereinafter directed to be performed by the Governing Body/Advisory Board from time to time.
    4. Joint Secretary:
    5. Governing Body Members: Other members of the Governing Body may generally assist in co-ordination of various projects and programmes undertaken by the Society and act as interface between the Advisory Board and all the members of the Society. The Governing Body meeting will be held in the presence of at least five members of the Advisory Board at Sathya Sai Grama at Muddenahalli or at such other place as may be suggested by the Advisory Board. The meeting of the Governing Body will be held once in every three calendar months namely on first Sunday of March, June, September, December of every year or on such other day as is suggested by Advisory Board. However, any member of the Society is entitled to attend any meeting of Governing Body.
    Rule No.12: UTILISATION OF FUNDS
    All donations, grants, presents and other offerings received will from part of the funds of the Society, which have to be solely utilised for achieving the aims and objectives of the Society.

    Rule No.13: SUITS
    The Society can sue or be sued in the name of the Society.

    Rule No.14: PROPERTIES OF THE SOCIETY
    1. All property of the Society either movable or immovable shall vest in the Society and shall be administrated by the Governing Body.
    2. The Society can invest the available or excess funds in accordance with the provisions of Section 13(1) (d) read with Section 11(5) of the income Tax Act, 1961.
    Rule No.15: AUDIT
    The accounts of the Society shall be audited annually or at such intervals as may be required by a Chartered Accountant and the reports of such audit shall be submitted to the Governing Body.

    Rule No.16: FINANCIAL YEAR
    The financial year of the Society shall be from 1st April ending on 31st of March of the subsequent calendar year.

    Rule No.17: GENERAL
    The Secretary shall specify the venue, time and agenda of the General Body Meeting, or the meeting of the Governing Body.

    Rule No.18: REQUISITION FOR MEETING
    At least 100 members of the Society may require the Secretary of the Society to convene a General Body Meeting of the Society by sending necessary requisition in writing to that effect.

    Rule No.19: AMENDMENTS
    No amendments or alterations shall be made in the aims and objectives and purposes of the Society unless prior approval of commissioner of income tax is obtained and approved by majority of the members present at an Governing Body meeting convened for the purpose.

    Rule No.20: PROCEDURE FOR WINDING UP
    In case of the winding up of the Society, the property and funds of the Society which will remain after full discharge of the liabilities of the Society shall be transferred or paid to Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Trust or its successor and if that is not legally possible, then to some other institution, having similar aims and objectives and registered u/s 12(A) and u/s 80G of Income Tax 1961 only.
